Database Detective: Minor Crimes Division

July 20, 2026 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

I really enjoyed the demo for Database Detective: Minor Crimes Division, so I picked it up on release (along with Desktop Explorer, which I also really enjoyed; they were conveniently bundled together). I'm on the 6th case of 10, and they're really ramping up in complexity.

Like I've said before, I'm a huge sucker for these "Fake OS" type games. I really like exploring everything the devs come up with and solving puzzles. Hypnospace Outlaw is probably the gold standard still, but this game has about 40 sites to explore and they're all really creative.

I'm still getting the hang of working with SQL; it's not a language I ever had to learn for school or work, but it's pretty intuitive. The cases are getting pretty complex, but everything so far seems really doable. The humor is not entirely for me, but the game has a really strong theme and it works well enough. I'll definitely be finishing this one.

Verdict: Keep Playing
