Desktop Explorer

August 1, 2026 - Reading time: ~1 minute - Category: game library project

I played the demo for Desktop Explorer back during the last Steam Next Fest, and I really enjoyed it. The combination of solving puzzles and interacting with the fake computer programs appealed to me, and I'm happy to say the full game is great as well.

I've only played a little further along than the demo, but what I've played is just as strong. The puzzles are tough but intuitive, and I've never gotten so stuck that I couldn't progress. The hint system is good, but not terribly comprehensive, so you may need to use an external guide at some points.

Like I've been saying, I have a huge soft spot for this type of game and will always check them out especially when they're as well-done as Desktop Explorer. Definitely give this game a lot if you enjoy fake OS games, puzzles, and slightly spooky stories.

Verdict: Keep Playing
