The Incident at Galley House

August 13, 2026 - Reading time: 2 minutes - Category: game library project

The Incident at Galley House is the follow-up to The Roottrees Are Dead and is another investigation/deduction game. I really, really enjoyed Roottrees, so Galley House was an instant pickup on release.

I've played for a few hours and am probably about a third of the way into the game, and I'm enjoying it, though I don't know if I'm as enamored with it as I was with Roottrees. The premise of the game sees you as an investigator, using a machine to delve into the paste and recreate various scenes across one night at the Galley House. 11 people are in the house, and many of them end up dead before the night ends. Your job is to deduce who was where, at what point, to try and figure out how each person met their fate.

It's really interesting, and the voice acting brings an extra bit of immersion to the genre. The non-linear storytelling is done well, and while the game is tough you always feel like there's something you can do to progress, and if you can't there's a very robust hint system that guides you to the next steps and outright gives you the answer if you ask for it.

Evil Trout is a developer I'll be keeping an eye on for sure, and this game will be getting finished.

Verdict: Keep Playing
