Steam Next Fest is now a regular event, and honestly it's kind of hard to keep up with all the demos. There are over 5000 entries in this Fest, and it's almost impossible to find the good stuff. Nonetheless, I tried and found quite a few demos I enjoyed. This is the first group of games I both liked and was not super impressed with. Another post will follow as I find time to play more demos.
Veritas Tales: Witch of the Dark Castle - gamebook, liked the hand drawn art. would be better with resizable window and English VA.
50 Years Classic - interesting concept, but a little too simplistic. Text & ASCII based turn-based strategy. Would probably work best as a browser game.
Kaido Genkai - Open world anime racing game. Great art and really good music
Truck-kun is Supporting Me from Another World?! - fun run-based anime driving game. sort of like a reverse Katamari game, focused on destroying things rather than gathering. Like the mechanics but not sure there is enough to carry a full game for me
UNGALAND! - PS2 style action-adventure 3D platformer. Good bones, but camera control is rough and combat isn't very satisfying. Needs some work, but will probably be a good game.
Hack95 - Very cool Fake OS game with interesting card based combat minigame. Always like "hacking" games with old Intenret aesthetics.
Burn-9 - Narrative-focused tactical game where you play as an operator directing agent sin the field. Has conversations sort of like Metal Gear Solid. Interesting concept
Moss: The Forgotten Relic - non-VR port of Moss 1 and 2. Cute puzzle-platformer. Nice looking game, but I feel like it loses something outside of VR.
