Thoughts on the Duskfade Demo

Duskfade is one of those random games you come across on Steam every once in a while. It's a budget mix of 3d platforming with Kingdom Hearts combat and feels like a natural successor to games like Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter.

The demo is pretty generous, letting you explore one of the games large levels. It contains 4 different biomes and a boss battle. There's lots of items to collect, the levels feel well-designed, and the character controls pretty well. The budget definitely comes through sometimes; you can get caught on geometry that looks like it should be traversable, and the art style, while nice, is a little generic for me.

But the combat feels good, for the most part. It's a little clunky, and when there are a lot of enemies on screen it can get busy.  The platforming is fun and is definitely the focus. I think this one will do well at a $20-25 price point and just needs a little more time in the oven.
